Basic Skin Care Classes
The state of Connecticut does not require a license in order to practice aesthetics. However, it is strongly recommended, and often required by most salons and spas, that an individual have a certificate before practicing in this area. To obtain an Aesthetcian Certificate from Pure & Simple Beauty, students must successfully complete a series of classes and fulfill requirements below:
This is a combination instructional and independent study program designed to guide you through becoming an aesthetician. Many women decide to have a career change while still keeping a full time job, and this class is set up to meet the needs of such individuals. There are 6 basic classes, an aesthetic textbook, homework and practical instruction and homework, as well as a research paper due to fulfill the requirements of this class.
SIX BASIC CLASSES
(supporting chapters in the aesthetic textbook will be assigned for each class)
1. Skin Types and Conditions - This class will teach you how to recognize each skin type and condition and how to analyze the skin of your clients. In order to be able to give your clients the proper treatments, use the correct products and sell them retail products to preserve and continue to obtain the desired result of your client, the first step is to know what skin type and condition applies to their specific need.
2. Consultations and Client Charts - This class is the class which is the most under-utilized, however, is one of most important parts of becoming a successful, professional aesthetician. The class teaches you how to use the confidential client chart as a tool to learn more about your clients skin and overall needs, and is used also as a sales tool to know what treatments and products to sell to your client to obtain the best results possible.
3. Basic Facial - From the time your client enters the spa to the time you walk them out from their treatment, this class will teach you the proper preparation of the client, steps to the basic or mini-facial, to checking the client out at the front desk.
4. Facial & Hand Massage - A full European facial will consist of the basic facial, plus the facial massage which consists of the upper chest area, back of the neck and the face. In this class you will learn different massage techniques, how to exercise and prepare your hands and also the treatment of your clients hands, as part of the facial.
5. The "Art" of Facial Waxing - As I tell all my students, the 'art' of waxing someone's eyebrows is making two eyebrows look like they belong on the same face! In this class you will learn not only how to achieve that, but also upper lip and other areas of the face. Sanitation practices and proper tweezing methods.
6. Body Waxing - The facial waxing class sets the stage for this class, which covers bikini*, legs, underarms and so on.
* I will not be doing Brazilian Bikini waxing in this class, if you are interested in having a class, I will arrange for a class to be set up with another instructor
